The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Govardhan Asrani, a beloved Bollywood actor and comedian, who passed away on October 20, 2025, at a Mumbai hospital. Asrani, aged 84, was hospitalized for five days due to breathing difficulties caused by fluid accumulation in his lungs, which his family confirmed as the cause of death.
Renowned for his comedic timing and versatility, Asrani featured in over 350 films during his illustrious career spanning more than five decades. He is also known for lending his voice to the character Zazu in the Hindi dub of Disney’s The Lion King. His memorable performances in classics such as Chala Murari Hero Banne, De Dana Dan, and Bodyguard have left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.
Respecting his final wishes, Asrani was cremated in a private ceremony at Santacruz crematorium, with only close family members present. His family chose to keep the news of his passing private to avoid media attention.
