A Kenyan woman has turned to social media to expose her misery after she was left cruel text messages by a man she had held so dear a man she had saved as “My Man ❤️ ” on her phone. The lady who took to social media to express her suffering explained that the two had been fine until the recent period when her boyfriend abruptly began ignoring her phone calls and messages. Frightened she tried calling him several times only to be greeted by a cold and agonizing response.
He told me to keep calling him and that I was desperate she wrote. I had no idea what I’d done wrong. The emotional exchange of texts quickly spread on social media with folks sharing screenshots of the man’s short exchanges and blunt rejection. In a single message he allegedly said that she was too much and instructed her never to contact him again unless she was saying sorry. Abused and confused the woman said that she was bullied into apologizing just to put an end to the suffering and humiliation.
Kenyans on Twitter were angered with most sympathizing with her and denouncing the inhumanity of the man. Some urged that she focus on recuperation while others used the account to illustrate how emotional manipulation has become rife in today’s relationships. Relationship experts also weighed in advising against emotional reliance and urging the youth to exercise self worth in relationships. Love should never make you feel unwanted or irrelevance said one counselor.
The case has sparked a wider conversation of mental health and emotional abuse especially among the youth who are attempting to discover their love during the era of social media. For the young woman however the wound is still fresh. I gave him my heart she panted. I just didn’t know he’d smash it through a message.
