Geoffrey Kipchumba Toroitich of Kenya won the 50th TCS Amsterdam Marathon in 2:03:30, a new course record in only his second marathon.
Defending champion Tsegaye Getachew of Ethiopia finished second in 2:04:18, a second ahead of compatriot Getaneh Molla.
Tanzania’s Gabriel Geay finished fourth in 2:04:36, with Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei improving his personal best to 2:04:52 in fifth.
Ethiopia dominated the women’s race, with Aynalem Desta finishing in 2:17:37, followed by Bertukan Welde (2:17:56) and Mekides Shimeles (2:19:56).
Kenya made waves again in Canada, this time sweeping the men’s podium at the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon.
Leonard Langat led Kenya’s 1-2-3 finish in 2:08:04, followed by Noah Kipkemboi (2:08:28) and Sila Kiptoo (2:08:44).
Kenyans dominated the Rome Half Marathon in Italy, taking all three podium spots in the men’s event. Simon Maiywa won in 59:44, beating off Vincent Kimaiyo (59:45) and Kalipus Lomwai (59:56).
The women’s race was likewise dominated by Kenyans, with Regina Koech (1:08:26), Millicent Jelimo (1:08:37), and Gladys Cherop (1:09:22) sweeping the top five spots.
Rebecca Mwangi won the Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon in 1:08:46, ahead of Janet Nyiva (1:09:09). Ethiopia’s Meskerem Mamo finished third in 1:10:58.
