Mama Ida Odinga has arrived at her matrimonial home in Opoda farm, Bondo for the first time since the passing of her husband Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. She was accompanied by her daughter RoseMary Odinga and other close family members, marking a deeply emotional moment in Kenya’s mourning period.
Mama Ida Odinga was also escorted by heavy security due to the high number of mourners. Her outfit spoke volumes, dressed in a full black ensemble, she embodied the dignity and sorrow of a grieving matriarch. She wore oversized black shades, shielding her eyes and adding a layer of privacy and solemnity.
The atmosphere at Opoda farm has been deeply emotional, with mourners from across the country gathering for vigils and tributes. A powerful Luo rite involving a bull being driven around the estate has been performed by elders. Raila Odinga will be laid to rest tomorrow 19/10/2025 in Bondo, Siaya County.
