A dramatic scene unfolded at a Nairobi court on Monday after a man shocked everyone by demanding that his estranged wife return a kidney he had donated to her years earlier. The incident took place during a heated divorce hearing that drew the attention of both lawyers and members of the public.
According to reports, the man told the court that he gave one of his kidneys to his wife while they were still deeply in love. He said he made the sacrifice to save her life after she suffered kidney failure some years back. However, he claimed that after her full recovery, she changed completely, became disrespectful, and eventually filed for divorce.
In an emotional outburst, the man told the judge that he wanted his kidney back if the marriage was going to end. He accused his wife of using him for survival and later abandoning him once she regained her health. The statement caused murmurs and laughter in court as the judge struggled to calm the man down.
The woman, on her part, remained silent for the most part but later told the court that the man’s demand was unreasonable.
