Popular media personality Oga Obinna has shared a worrying update about Mugithi singer Shalkido Ga Cucu, who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on Sunday morning, October 5. The incident occurred in the early hours, leaving the musician with severe head and leg injuries.
Obinna revealed that Shalkido was rushed to the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH), where doctors confirmed he had multiple internal brain bleedings and a broken left leg.
According to a neurosurgeon’s assessment, the internal bleeding is extensive, affecting several parts of the brain and causing dangerous swelling. Obinna disclosed that the doctors termed Shalkido’s condition “very severe and inoperable”, noting that the medical team could only administer medication to manage the swelling.
The comedian expressed frustration over the hospital’s slow communication, saying he and Shalkido’s father struggled to get accurate information about his treatment and attempts to transfer him to another facility were unsuccessful.
Obinna assured fans that he will continue sharing updates about the artist’s progress, adding that they might seek public assistance if the medical bills become overwhelming.
Following his update, Kenyans flooded social media with messages of hope and prayers for Shalkido’s recovery. Many described the singer as humble and talented, urging hospitals to prioritize his care.
Messages of encouragement poured in, with fans declaring healing and strength upon him.
Earlier this year, Shalkido had appealed to Millicent Omanga for a motorcycle gift after revealing his financial struggles—a plea that followed Eric Omondi’s donation of a bike to him.
The singer’s condition has sparked widespread concern online, as fans rally behind him in solidarity, praying for a miracle recovery from his critical injuries.
