Two sisters from Kenana Primary School in Njoro, Nakuru County, have been out of school for a week after allegedly being shamed by a female teacher for not wearing undergarments. According to their mother, the children were humiliated in front of fellow staff members, leaving them traumatized and unwilling to return to class.

The incident has sparked outrage among parents and community members, who criticized the teacher’s actions as insensitive and damaging to the pupils’ dignity. Child rights activists have condemned the ridicule, noting that many families in rural areas struggle to afford basic necessities, and such treatment only worsens the stigma around poverty.
