In a major breakthrough, Nairobi detectives have arrested a former police officer linked to the killing of his wife and the assault of their househelp. The suspect, identified as Cyprian, had been in hiding after the incident but was eventually tracked down and apprehended by officers.
His capture has given a sense of relief to the relatives of 27-year-old Susan Nabwire, who tragically lost her life inside their home in Kware, Pipeline Estate, Embakasi. Investigations reveal that the marriage between Susan and Cyprian, which had lasted five years, was filled with disputes and suspicion.
On the night of the crime, a quarrel erupted when Cyprian confronted his wife over allegations of infidelity. Police records state that he snatched her phone, demanded access to her private information, including Mpesa details, before turning violent. At around 3am, he reportedly armed himself with an axe, struck her repeatedly, and later strangled her with a rope.
The situation worsened when he turned against their househelp, allegedly raping and threatening her, all in the presence of Susan’s frightened child. Following the ordeal, he locked the house with a padlock and escaped, sparking a wide search that ended in his dramatic arrest.
Susan’s grieving family, shocked by the incident, is demanding that justice be served. Known for operating an Mpesa business at Machakos Country Bus in Nairobi CBD, she was described as hardworking and ambitious. Police have confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody and will be charged after investigations are finalized.
