Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati has sparked heated reactions online after he boldly responded to critics who have been bashing him and his wife Diana Marua for flaunting their wealth. The celebrity couple has in recent days shared videos and photos showcasing bundles of cash worth millions, something that has divided public opinion.

Taking to Instagram, Bahati made it clear that he will not apologize for living large. He said that many people confuse humility with poverty, but for him, his current lifestyle is simply a favour from God. According to him, those who cannot accept his blessings will have no choice but to watch from the sidelines. He even likened his family to water, saying people will either “drink from them” or “bathe with them.”

Bahati also addressed fellow artistes who have been criticizing Diana, reminding them that she is one of the fastest rising musicians in the country. Instead of hating, he advised them to seek collaborations with her. The father of four insisted that his success is not accidental, pointing out that he rose from a tough childhood as an orphan, and that only God’s grace has placed him where he is today.

However, not everyone is impressed. Many Kenyans still recall that Bahati had pledged KSh 1 million to a Harambee Stars player after a CHAN match, a promise he is yet to fulfill. To some, the flashy displays of wealth feel like mockery rather than celebration.
