ODM legislator Millie Odhiambo has expressed gratitude to comedian Eric Omondi after he came to the aid of three girls orphaned in the tragic Naki Secondary School bus accident that claimed 26 lives. In a post shared on Tuesday, August 26, the Suba North MP thanked Omondi for his act of compassion, noting that his intervention had given the young girls hope during a painful period.
“Thanks Eric Omondi for this gesture,” she wrote while reacting to his latest humanitarian effort.
Omondi visited the family home in Nyakach, Kisumu County, where the three sisters now live under the care of their grandmother.
The visit came just days after a heartbreaking video emerged showing two of the girls crying at their mother’s grave, pleading for her to wake up.
The emotional clip had touched Kenyans across social media, drawing widespread sympathy.
From the KSh 1 million raised by Kenyans after the exposure of a Kitengela woman who exploited a disabled child, Omondi channeled part of the funds to support the orphans. He ensured they had adequate back-to-school shopping, extended assistance to their grandmother, acknowledging the responsibility she has taken on.
Omondi’s gesture has been widely praised, with many commending him for consistently using his platform to highlight and respond to cases of vulnerability.
His visit not only provided tangible support but also reassurance to the grieving family that they are not alone.
Millie Odhiambo joined Kenyans in celebrating the initiative, describing it as an example of how public figures can leverage their influence to impact lives positively.
As the girls adjust to their new reality, the support has brought comfort, showing the power of unity and compassion during times of tragedy.
