Stephen Wang’ondu Kinini, a prominent Nyeri billionaire known for his vast business empire, met a tragic end following a deeply troubled family saga.
Wang’ondu had built a life of wealth and influence, but his legacy ended in a sad note after being implicated in the murder of his own son, Daniel Mwangi Wang’ondu.
Mwangi, despite his parents’ separation, remained close to the family and resided on his father’s estate in Mweiga. He had established his own ventures and even constructed a home on the family land.
However, the father-son relationship soured dramatically. Mwangi confronted Wang’ondu at one of the petrol stations in Mweiga town, and the confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, attracting the attention of bystanders who had to intervene.
Following the incident, Mwangi reportedly vowed to kill his father and contemplated taking his own life, feeling deeply betrayed.
The public nature of the conflict brought shame and embarrassment to Stephen Wang’ondu. In a phone conversation with his eldest son Elijah, the tycoon expressed his anger and declared he had “cursed” Daniel, disowning him and stripping him of his blessings.
Overwhelmed by emotions, the tycoon allegedly orchestrated Mwangi’s murder, hiring assailants to carry out the act on his own property.
