A video showing a man violently beating a woman named Bella Comedy during the Kutit Festival at Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi has caused great anger among Kenyans.
In the clip, the man, identified as Motiriot Kipkosgei, also called Pavilion Kipkosgei, is seen hitting Bella, pulling her hair, and hurting her badly. Shockingly, many people around did not stop him or help Bella. Instead, they just watched quietly.
The painful scene led many people online to ask why nobody acted to stop the violence. One lady in the video, frustrated by the silence, recorded the attack and shouted, “Why are you just standing around as he beats her?” Her words captured the feelings of many who watched the video later.
Kenyans quickly condemned the attack. Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi spoke out strongly against the violence.
He called on Kipkosgei to surrender to the police immediately.
“Violence against women is not acceptable,” Sudi said. He asked the police to take action fast to protect Bella and ensure justice.

Other leaders also joined the call for justice. Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said no one should accept violence against women.
He promised to support efforts to make sure the law is followed. EALA MP Falhada Dekow Iman described the attack as a serious crime.
She urged the police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to work quickly to bring the attacker to justice.
Social media users shared their anger and sadness. Many said Kipkosgei should be punished for hurting Bella.
Some reminded everyone that women deserve respect and safety at all times. Others asked why bystanders did not protect Bella during the attack.
