Wanjiku Thiga, the Youth League Leader of the DCP Party, has pointed out that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s primary weakness lies in his observation of those around him failing to meet expectations.
In an interview with a local radio station on Friday, August 8, 2025, Thiga characterized Gachagua as a strict and principled leader who has little tolerance for incompetence. She noted that he prioritizes results and is unafraid to address those who do not fulfill their duties.
“Truly, Gachagua is a truthful man. What you see on camera is the same on the ground. He is truly offering mentorship to young leaders,” she said, emphasising that he leads by example and expects the same commitment from his team.
She pointed out that while many politicians present a polished image for the public, Gachagua remains consistent both in public and private. His engagement with young leaders focuses on capacity building, instilling discipline, and ensuring they take their responsibilities seriously.
Thiga remarked that working with Gachagua requires a strong work ethic.
“He is very strict when it comes to results. You must be a driven, hardworking person because the task must be done at the end of the day,” she said.
She noted that when Gachagua delegates a task, it must be done promptly and without excuses. This insistence on accountability has helped him maintain high performance among his associates. However, it can also lead to tension with those unwilling to put in the effort.
“You will collide with him when you show any form of laziness,” she remarked, noting that this intolerance for laxity is what some might perceive as his weakness.
For Thiga, though, this trait is a leadership strength that ensures everyone under his guidance remains diligent.
