Angola’s head coach expressed frustration with the Harambee Stars after their goalless draw in the CHAN 2024 qualifier at Kasarani Stadium. Speaking after the match, the coach accused the Kenyan side of deliberately wasting time instead of pushing for a win. According to him, the Stars slowed down the game in the second half, disrupting the flow and making it difficult for Angola to execute their game plan. He said such tactics were unfair to players and the fans who came to watch an exciting encounter. The highly anticipated match saw both teams create a few chances, but neither could find the back of the net. Kenya started brightly, with quick passes and aggressive attacks, but the momentum dropped as the game progressed. Angola, on the other hand, pressed for a late winner but were unable to break through the hosts’ solid defence. The coach insisted that his team came prepared for a competitive, fast-paced match but instead found themselves battling against what he termed “unsporting behaviour.” He urged match officials to be stricter in controlling time-wasting in future fixtures.

Despite the criticism, Harambee Stars coach praised his players for holding their ground against a strong Angolan side and said the draw was an important result ahead of the return leg. Both teams will now shift focus to the decisive match that will determine who qualifies for the next round of CHAN 2024.
