R Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that nobody could have attacked retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Northlands farm without the knowledge and approval of President William Ruto.

Gachagua said the attack was not something that just happened. He said it was planned, and it could not happen unless the top leaders allowed it.

In March 2023, a group of people invaded Northlands farm, which belongs to the Kenyatta family. The people destroyed things on the farm, stole animals like sheep, and even burned parts of the land.

The incident shocked many Kenyans. People wondered how such a big farm that belongs to a former president could be attacked like that during the day, and the police did not stop it.

Gachagua said this kind of attack cannot happen unless people in power agree to it. He said normal citizens cannot just wake up and decide to go and attack such a farm. According to him, powerful people must have given the go-ahead, and that is why nobody was arrested or stopped during the attack.

He also said the aim of the attack was to scare Uhuru Kenyatta and stop him from supporting the opposition, especially Raila Odinga. At that time, Uhuru was still active in the Azimio La Umoja movement. Gachagua said the government used fear and violence to silence those who were not supporting it.

Gachagua added that even when he was Deputy President, he always wanted peace. He said he never supported violence, even when there were political differences.

Since leaving office, Gachagua has been speaking out against President Ruto. He has accused him of betrayal and bad leadership. He now says he wants Kenyans to know the truth about what was happening in government.

His words have caused a lot of debate in the country. Some people agree with him while others say he is only talking because he lost power. The government has not replied to what Gachagua said. Kenyans are watching closely to see what will happen next.
