Celebrated Mugithi musician and police officer Samuel Muchoki, alias Samidoh, has moved to shield himself from arrest after securing a KSh 200,000 anticipatory bail from the High Court.
Justice Diana Kavedza granted the bail, ruling that Samidoh’s liberty was at risk following a warrant of arrest issued against him by the National Police Service (NPS).
The warrant, linked to allegations of dereliction of duty, came just days after NPS approved his travel to the United States.
Samidoh, attached to the Anti-Stock Theft Police Unit, has not reported to his Gilgil post since May 27, 2025.
However, he argues that his absence was authorized and that his woes stem from his open criticism of the Kenya Kwanza government. “The arrest plan is related to my political statements,” he stated in court.
In a bold move, Samidoh also revealed he has filed for early retirement from the NPS, signaling his intent to exit the service amid mounting pressure.
The court named the ODPP, DCI, Inspector General of Police, JKIA police boss, and others as respondents in the case. Justice Kavedza emphasized the need to protect constitutional freedoms in her ruling.
