Comedian and philanthropist Eric Omondi was left deeply heartbroken after visiting Millicent Maina, a bedridden mother in Githurai who has been confined to her bed for four years.
Her 11-year-old son has taken on the role of primary caregiver, handling responsibilities far beyond his years — including feeding her, changing her diapers, and managing household chores.
Eric was responding to a call for help initiated by actress Dorea Chege and her partner DJ Dibull, who discovered Millicent’s plight during a promotional event in the area.
Touched by their video, Eric made his way to Githurai and was met with a scene that he called “the saddest thing” he has seen this year.
“It’s just wrong — mentally, culturally, and even psychologically,” Eric said, criticizing the government for neglecting vulnerable citizens while prioritizing unnecessary political spending. He called for urgent intervention and pledged to support the family.
Millicent, who battles multiple chronic illnesses, expressed gratitude for the support but admitted her biggest worry remains the well-being of her sons.
Eric has since rallied Kenyans to offer assistance and restore hope to the struggling family.
