Comedienne Dem Wa Facebook has recalled how the late KK Mwenyewe persistently complained about stomach pain during their earliest interactions, saying the comedian had been silently battling discomfort long before the public became aware of his deteriorating health.
Dem Wa Facebook, who first met KK Mwenyewe in 2020 while performing at Kisii University, said their bond began at a time when they were all growing as digital creators.
She had been invited to the institution by the Churchill Show team and was introduced to KK Mwenyewe, Kafengo, and Liz — a trio that would go on to become her close collaborators and trusted creative partners.
She revealed that during that period, KK Mwenyewe would constantly speak about abdominal discomfort, a pattern she now sees as an early warning of the illness that would later be cited during his memorial.
“I knew him in 2020 at Kisii University. I had been called by the Churchill Show to perform there, and that is where I met KK Mwenyewe, Kafengo, and Liz. From that moment, we became very close friends, and we helped each other a lot with content. We used to create very good content together. But KK would keep complaining he was feeling pain in the stomach,” she narrated.
She said that the very same complaints KK Mwenyewe used to share privately were later echoed during his memorial service.
She recalled that during the service, family members revealed that he had been struggling with stomach-related ailments dating back to 2020, largely caused by acidity and digestive complications.
The comedienne added that it broke her heart to realise that what seemed like minor complaints at the time were signs of an ongoing and serious health condition.
“During that time, I remember KK used to complain a lot about stomach pain. And during the memorial service, I saw the same thing being mentioned — that he had been struggling with stomach problems for a long time. They said the stomach issues had started in 2020, caused by acidity and things like that.”
Uplifting creators
The comedienne who broke down after attending KK’s burial further urged the public to continue uplifting content creators through support and prayers, saying that many face intense private battles which are often invisible to their audiences.
She noted that digital creators endure emotional and financial hardship in silence and added that she appreciated the fans who continuously support their work.
She expressed concern that many creators suffer in silence and go unnoticed until it is too late.
“Please pray for us, because we content creators go through so much, but people on the outside may never know. And thank you so much to everyone who continues to celebrate our content and support us. Sometimes, as content creators, we lack basic things.”
Dem Wa Facebook also recalled a moment during the mourning period when someone questioned Kafengo on why he did not inform the rest of them earlier about KK’s condition, saying perhaps they would have contributed to help him access medical care.
“I also saw someone asking Kafengo why he never informed us earlier that KK had a health problem so that we could try to contribute and help him get medical treatment.”
She further recalled a time when KK Mwenyewe was struggling to pay his school fees and noted that it was media personality Andrew Kibe who came to his aid.
She said she was travelling to Kisii at the time when KK Mwenyewe was facing that challenge, and it was Kibe who appealed, urging men to help one another.
The comedienne added that Kibe observed that if KK Mwenyewe had been a girl asking for the same help, the assistance would likely have come faster, but because he was a man, the urgency was ignored.
“I remember there was also a time KK needed school fees, and I happened to be travelling to Kisii. It was Andrew Kibe who came to his rescue. He sat down and said that as men, we must help each other. He said that if KK had been a girl and asked for help, he might have received it faster, but because he was a man, people were less likely to help him. So he rallied people to support him.”
The comedienne emphasised that Kibe had done a great deal for him and that KK Mwenyewe, even in his eternal rest, must be thankful for that support.
“I know even where KK is now, resting eternally; he must still be thankful to Kibe for what he did. Kibe helped him in a big way. I remember even recently, when we created content together, KK told me that the camera he was using had been given to him thanks to Andrew Kibe.”
