A court in Nairobi ruled in favor of a father, Eddy, in a custody case involving his young son, Ian.

The decision, issued earlier this week, followed a series of hearings in which the child’s welfare and home environment were closely examined.

The mother, Neema, lost custody after the court determined that her current romantic relationship posed a potential threat to the child’s safety.

According to court proceedings, Neema had been involved in a new relationship with a man identified as Mark.

The court found this relationship to be unstable and possibly harmful to the emotional and physical well-being of her son.

Eddy, the child’s biological father, had filed for sole custody earlier this year.

He raised concerns about his son’s living conditions and emotional welfare while in Neema’s care.

The court accepted his argument that Ian’s safety could not be guaranteed in the mother’s household due to the influence of her new partner.

The judge’s ruling emphasized the need to prioritize the child’s security over the parents’ personal interests.

Testimonies and social welfare reports indicated that Neema’s affection toward her new partner had affected her ability to focus on parenting responsibilities.

Observations from child protection officials supported the view that Ian would be better cared for under his father’s supervision.

The case attracted public attention because of its emotional complexity and the rare decision to transfer full custody from mother to father.

The court’s verdict became effective immediately, and the child has since been placed in his father’s home.
