The long wait is finally over for the former Deputy Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Administration Police Service wing, Noor Gabow, after being cleared as Kenya’s Consul General to Haiti.

The former cop presented his credentials to Haiti’s foreign affairs minister on Tuesday, marking the beginning of his stint as Kenya’s envoy to the troubled Caribbean nation.

Gabow, once an influential figure in the country’s security architecture, was redeployed by President William Ruto in 2024, having held the DIG- APS position for over six years since his appointment in 2018 by the then President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In 2022, he was picked to serve as the acting Inspector General of Police following the resignation of the then IG, Hillary Mutyambai.

In his new position as Consul General to Haiti, Gabow will be in-charge of coordinating diplomatic relations in the larger Caribbean region.

His appointment comes at the time Kenyan police officers are still deployed in the country to restore peace and order under the Multinational Security Support, which is funded by the USA government.
