Julie Njoki was pronounced dead after being rushed to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital, following her arrest by police officers during the Saba Saba Protests.
According to the source, her aunt Grace has broken the silence and revealed that Julie Njoki was arrested during the protests, and it is believed that she was assaulted while in the police cell, leaving her with internal injuries.
She also revealed that due to police negligence, she was not rushed to the hospital in time before she passed away.
Grace confirmed that Julie had appeared in court after she was arrested and was later detained, where she was allegedly assaulted before her death.
“On Monday, July 7, my niece Julie was arrested in Nanyuki, a town I once thought was peaceful. The next day, she was taken to court and judgment was passed. That same night, while in police custody, she was brutally beaten. The very people meant to protect her left her unconscious,” part of the statement from the source read.
The body of the deceased is currently in the morgue and the government pathologist have not yet revealed what caused her dead.
The pathologist has confirmed that there some things in lungs, brain and even pancreas.
“We are finding some things in the lungs, brains, pancreas, and liver, and they can be contributory. Specifically, there is bleeding in the brain, which doesn’t look traumatic,” said
