A family in Kitengela is seeking justice after their 21-year-old son, Brian Kimutai, was shot and killed during the Saba Saba protests on Monday.

Brian’s mother claims that the officer who shot him knew her son personally and held a grudge due to a disagreement over a motorcycle. Friends of Brian have also confirmed this dispute.

Witnesses at the scene described the scary moments before the shooting. They said that when Kimutai saw the officers, he knelt down and raised his hands to show he was surrendering.

Even though he posed no threat, he was shot multiple times from close range, just a few meters away from his home along Kitengela Prison Road.

To protect their son’s body from possible tampering, the family made the heart-wrenching decision to take it home from the hospital and spend the night with it. They worried about interference from authorities and thought this was their best chance to preserve evidence for a fair investigation.
