Residents in Kitengela, Kajiado County, woke up to shock on Monday after armed men stormed a local hospital’s operating theatre. The group forcefully disrupted a scheduled Caesarean section, ordering the surgical team to stop and dictating how the patient should be handled instead.

The invasion happened in broad daylight at a well-known private facility serving many in the fast-growing town. Witnesses reported that the attackers entered without warning, pushing aside staff and ignoring hospital protocols. Medical workers were left terrified as the men insisted on controlling the delivery process, defying professional guidance and hospital safety procedures.

Staff tried to reason with the intruders, but the group’s aggressive stance forced doctors to suspend the operation mid-way to avoid further conflict or harm. Nurses and other health workers scrambled to protect both mother and unborn child from potential injury in the chaotic scene. Patients in other wards reportedly panicked as news of the theatre invasion spread through the hospital.

The hospital management confirmed the incident, stating that the security breach endangered lives and violated medical ethics. They said they had never witnessed such a brazen interference with patient care. Local police officers were called to the scene but the suspects reportedly fled before arrests could be made.

Authorities have since launched investigations to identify the culprits and establish their motive. Preliminary reports suggest the attackers might have had a personal connection to the patient undergoing surgery, though police have yet to confirm any details.

Community leaders condemned the act, warning that such intimidation of health professionals could discourage medical workers and undermine trust in local facilities. Residents called for better security at hospitals to protect both staff and patients from similar threats in future
