Bunge La Mwananchi leader Joakim Simiyu has announced plans to peacefully occupy the homes of elected leaders including Members of Parliament Members of County Assemblies Governors and Senators following the Sabasaba demonstrations.
Simiyu stated that the action will not be intended to cause violence but to highlight the suffering of ordinary citizens and symbolically “eat” where leaders feast while the public struggles.
The announcement comes amid ongoing nationwide protests led by Gen Z and civil movements calling for accountability reduced cost of living and better governance.
Simiyu emphasized that the move is a peaceful form of civil resistance aimed at holding leaders directly responsible for the economic and social hardships faced by Kenyans.
He added that the public will no longer beg for change but will peacefully present themselves where power and privilege reside to make their pain visible.
This declaration has drawn strong reactions from both political leaders and citizens with some warning against possible confrontation while others praised it as a bold form of nonviolent protest.
As the Sabasaba momentum builds pressure continues to mount on government officials to respond to the growing wave of civic awakening sweeping across the country.
