Embattled Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has decried long term favouritism in the Kenya Defence Forces promotions and leadership that has allegedly seen the Western region sidelined since independence.
While addressing citizens during a public engagement, Natembeya decried that the Western Kenya region community has never had a three star nor a four star general since independence.
According to Natembeya, the highest rank that a person from the Western community has ever been promoted to in the Kenya Defence Forces is the position of Major General in which he didn’t serve for long.
“The community has had only one major general in the Kenya Air-force who didn’t even serve for long. He was removed and taken to head a taskforce in Turkana,” Natembeya argued.
Currently, Natembeya decried that the community has only five members in the Kenya Defence Forces with the rank of Brigadier. He says the five have been bypassed in promotions for years and are now headed for retirement without achieving 3 star of 4 star generals rank.
Natembeya used the opportunity to continue the onslaught against Speaker Moses Wetangula and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi who he accused of failing to ensure equal representation of the region in government positions.
According to Natembeya, the two self proclaimed Western Kenya kingpins have failed to agitate for the region’s political rights and should be sent packing come 2027.
