woman witness

After seeing the incident, a woman who works as a supermarket seller, next to the store explained what happened on Wednesday afternoon.

On June 26, reports of body finds appeared on social media. But in a statement, the store clarified the rumors.

During the height of the Gen-Z protests on Wednesday, June 25, the store was one of many businesses in Nairobi that were looted and broken into.

A woman who sells her groceries close to the store, said that a big bunch of criminals broke in on Wednesday afternoon.

Around 10 in the morning, a large group of men arrived from the Muthurwa region. In recent times, they had been fighting the police.

She told SPM Buzz, “They swiftly moved to the other stores and began breaking in.” She later explained that the thugs approached her and other women who were selling groceries, on the side of the road and told them to move aside so they could enter the store.

They gave us the order to move. I told my colleague we were in danger. They were too many. They looked like those young boys from Kayole.

At that moment, we rushed to find shelter in the store,” she remembered. According to the woman, the thugs even overpowered the police when they broke into the grocery store and the nearby kiosks.

“When we fled to shelter with the manager on the upper floor, the thugs also came where we were because they attempted to enter the supermarket through the ceiling.

We ran away and went back to hiding in the bathroom,” she said. The elderly vegetable vendor claimed that she was hiding when everything happened and that she did not witness, the police trying to stop the theft.
