An American athlete, Chris Robinson, endured an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction during the men’s 400m hurdles at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic on Tuesday evening.Despite the incident, Robinson managed to clinch victory in the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold event.

The 24-year-old athlete, born on February 19, 2001, in the United States, is a rising star in track and field. A former student at the University of Alabama, Robinson made headlines after winning the 400m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with a time of 48.12 seconds. He also participated in the U.S. Olympic Trials for Paris 2024, narrowly missing qualification by finishing fourth.

During the race in Ostrava, Robinson experienced a wardrobe malfunction that drew widespread attention. He was forced to adjust his shorts repeatedly after they failed to hold in place, briefly exposing him mid-race. Despite the awkward situation, Robinson remained focused and powered through the hurdles, winning the race with a season-best time of 48.05 seconds.

Brazil’s Matheus Lima finished second in 48.11 seconds, while Czech athlete Vit Muller came in third with a personal best of 48.41 seconds.

Robinson had previously competed in the Grand Slam Track League, finishing fourth overall and earning $25,000. In Jamaica, he placed second behind Olympic bronze medalist Alison Dos Santos.

Other highlights from the Ostrava meet included Armand Duplantis breaking the men’s pole vault meeting record with a 6.13m clearance and Kenyan Phanuel Koech setting a new meeting record in the men’s 1500m with 3:29.05. South African Prudence Sekgodiso also broke the women’s 800m record, while Salwa Eid Naser set a new mark in the women’s 400m.

Despite the mishap, Robinson’s grit and performance made him one of the most talked-about athletes of the evening.
