The Motorists Association of Kenya has slammed ODM leader Raila Odinga over his recent comments supporting the cancelled Adani airport deal.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday, June 21, the Association accused Raila of betraying public trust by endorsing exploitative Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) like the Adani deal.

They claimed the agreement, which involved the Indian conglomerate Adani Group, was rejected by Kenyans due to fears of foreign domination over vital national assets.

The motorists warned that such long-term concessions threaten national sovereignty, especially when imposed under the guise of development. They urged Raila to reconsider his stance and align with the people who once stood by him in the struggle for justice and equity.

Raila had earlier expressed disappointment over the deal’s cancellation, stating that its rejection was driven by politics and that JKIA’s development was essential for Nairobi’s growth. The Association, however, maintained that patriotism should override private or foreign interests in national infrastructure.
