Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu faced a tough night on June 19 when her daughter suddenly fell ill, forcing her to rush to the hospital just after midnight.

The lawmaker, known for her strong political voice and deep love for her children, posted a short video on Instagram showing her daughter, Teanna, receiving an injection at an unnamed medical facility.

In the video, Teanna appeared nervous about the jab. “I don’t know why I’m scared,” she said softly. Nyamu responded kindly, offering to hold her. “It’s a phobia, I think,” she added, trying to comfort her daughter. The little girl even asked the doctor if the injection was really necessary, to which the medic gently explained it was important.

Nyamu captioned the post, “Motherhood, ndo sisi hao hosi in PJs,” describing the moment as part of the reality of raising children.

Though the exact illness was not revealed, many fans wished the young girl a quick recovery, applauding Nyamu for being present and caring.

This tender moment comes at a time when Nyamu has been in the spotlight for her political statements and past relationship drama. Recently, she faced criticism for comments she made after the tragic death of blogger Albert Ojwang in police custody.

Nyamu later apologised and retracted her statements, urging the government to ensure justice is done. She also recently responded carefully to the shooting of Boniface Kariuki, showing a softer and more measured tone.

Despite the controversies, this recent incident reminded many Kenyans of Nyamu’s most important role—being a mother.

As one follower commented, “She may be in politics, but when it comes to her kids, she’s just like any other mum—loving and protective.”
