Mary Kamene, who was taken to Uganda by her biological father at the age of five in 1998, has finally reunited with her family in Kajiado County after 27 years.

Kamene, now in her early thirties, had lived in Busia, Uganda, since childhood and was raised by her grandmother following the death of her father shortly after their move.

For nearly three decades, Kamene had not set foot in her birthplace, and her family had given up hope of ever seeing her again.

The emotional reunion, which took place this week, was marked by tears of joy and heartfelt embraces as family members welcomed her back home.

“I feel like a part of me that was missing has finally returned,” said one of her relatives during the emotional gathering.

Kamene shared that although she grew up away from home, she always felt a longing to reconnect with her roots. With the help of local leaders and good Samaritans, she managed to trace her family in Kenya.
