In a confession that was made by Police Constable James Mukhwana to the Independent Policing And Oversight Authority (IPOA), who was arrested over the death of High School Teacher and X influencer Albert Ojwang’, there has been mixed reactions even as the PC argued that he was acting on orders from above.
According to Mukhwana, he was receiving orders from the Central Police Station OCS Samson Talaam who was receiving instructions from the Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Langat, who has since stepped aside.
The Police Constable revealed that he had been summoned by his Deputy who told him that a suspect would be brought to the Station and that he was supposed to ‘deal with’ the suspect.
Reacting to the statement by Police Constable James Mukhwana, former LSK Chair Eric Theuri has lauded the move but also pointed out the fact that several things don’t add up. ”The statement by Mukhwana is a welcome start to accountability. But some things still don’t add up.” Stated the former Chair of the LSK.
While speaking through his official x page on Tuesday, the 17th of July, the Lawyer argued that all who gave orders were complicit in the murder of the late Albert Ojwang’.
Theuri has gone further to state that phone records ought to be obtained to link the specific commands that were given leading to the death of Ojwang’. According to Theuri, IPOA has to bring everyone to account including the chain of command.
”Ultimately, all those who gave commands are complicit in the murder. The call data records of all the police officers involved must be obtained to link the commands & the actions taken, Stated the Lawyer, IPOA has its work cut out. The chain of command must be held accountable.” He added.
