Former Chief Justice David Maraga has issued a scathing statement calling for the immediate end of President William Ruto’s regime.

In a bold and unprecedented move, Maraga declared that the administration has failed the people and can no longer be trusted to uphold the rule of law.

Maraga accused the Ruto government of consistently violating constitutional principles and ignoring the cries of ordinary citizens. He described recent developments as “the last straw,” saying the regime has taken Kenyans for granted for far too long.

“The time has come to draw the line against impunity and the breakdown of the rule of law,” Maraga stated. He said it is now clear that the current leadership “will not and cannot govern.”

The former CJ’s remarks come in the wake of nationwide protests sparked by the controversial Finance Bill and excessive police force against unarmed demonstrators. Dozens have been injured or killed, with many Kenyans blaming the State for turning a deaf ear to their suffering.

Maraga’s call marks a significant moment in Kenya’s political discourse, as he is widely respected for his integrity and deep commitment to justice. His voice adds weight to growing calls for a national reset.

He urged the regime to shut down and make way for a fresh beginning anchored on the rule of law and accountability. According to Maraga, only a full restoration of institutions and respect for human life can save the country from collapse.

Maraga emphasized the need to rebuild a Kenya rooted in justice, transparency, and constitutionalism. He warned that unless urgent action is taken, the country risks slipping into complete state failure.

His statement has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans echoing his sentiments. Hashtags like #RutoMustGo and #RestoreKenya have begun trending as citizens demand radical change.
