In a recent announcement on their official social media pages, the National Police Service (NPS) has addressed the harrowing incident that unfolded at Kikopey shopping center along the Nakuru-Nairobi Highway on the night of December 3, 2023. The police have described the incident as self-involved traffic fatal injury.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the trailer, headed towards Nakuru, lost control and veered off the road and hit two male adult pedestrians who tragically lost their lives on the spot. The same vehicle then careened into iron sheet structures a few meters from the road, claiming the lives of three male adults engaged in a game of pool table.
Aside from the tragic loss of life, the trailer caused extensive property damage, including three motor vehicles parked in a nearby yard – a Land Rover, Peugeot 405, and an Isuzu Trooper.
In a startling revelation, the NPS disclosed that the driver of the ill-fated vehicle fled the scene of the accident. Intensive efforts are now underway to apprehend the driver and bring them to justice for their role in this devastating incident.
