Barely two days after President William Ruto met Former President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Ichaweri residence, sources close to Kenyatta has confided about a secret deal between the two.
As reported by the Star, President Ruto was keen to pick key allies of Mr Kenyatta into his cabinet something that political pundits have opined that could lead to current CSs losing their plum job.
To counter Gachagua’s growing influence and reclaim part of Kikuyu vote, the two leaders agreed on potential Cabinet appointments of Muhoho, Kagwe, Kibicho and Ndiritu Muriithi – former Laikipia governor and nephew of former President Mwai Kibaki.
In a follow-up statement yesterday, Ruto said the future of the country hinges on inclusivity, urging every citizen to play a role in shaping the nation’s trajectory. He highlighted his efforts to work closely with ODM leader Raila Odinga, and Mr Kenyatta adding that he would reach out to other leaders.
“I thanked him for his continued role as a national statesman and for peace making in the region,” Ruto said.
Impeached Gachagua is rolling out a multipronged political strategy to scuttle President William Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 polls.
Gachagua is plotting to leverage his perceived popularity in his Mt Kenya turf to lock Ruto out of the vote-rich region.
Barely two years in office, the one-time Mathira MP had a bitter falling out with the President, leading to his dramatic and historic impeachment.
“We are working on broad-based approaches as we explore available options to secure a resounding political comeback following his irregular ouster,” Embakasi North MP James Gakuya, a staunch Gachagua ally, said.
