Three men have been arrested by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in connection to a murder that happened in July. A 27-year-old man was killed in Ebuyalu village, Vihiga County.
The three suspects, Ibra Amos, Dickson Munala, and Sypros Omondi, were taken into custody in Yala township, Siaya County, on Thursday. This happened after forensic analysis linked them to the crime scene.
These suspects were also found with the personal belongings of the deceased. They are now facing charges for murder. The DCI stated, “On July 3, Ibrahim Ondeko, 27, was with his wife when they closed their shop around 10 pm. Suddenly, the attackers, armed with machetes, appeared and attacked them without warning, killing the man instantly.”
The wife of the deceased, who was seriously injured but managed to escape, told the police that the attackers had covered their faces during the attack.
She said, “We had just closed our shop and were heading home when the men with covered faces attacked us. One of them came at me with a machete, and as I tried to protect myself, he struck my left arm, causing severe injuries.”
She managed to get away from the attackers and encountered police officers who were on patrol.
“The officers rushed to the scene but unfortunately, the attackers had fled, and they found the lifeless body of the deceased on the ground in a pool of blood.”Investigations into this tragic murder began, leading to the deployment of detectives from the elite Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau. They immediately launched a search for the suspects.
