An investigation is underway in Lamu regarding an incident where several GSU officers were harmed after their vehicle ran over an IED bomb placed in the middle of the road. According to a credible news report, the GSU officers were on a patrol heading to an undisclosed location before the incident occurred.
Simultaneously, there have been reports of three Kenyan defense forces soldiers being killed while supposedly trying to prevent suspects from attacking the GSU officers. The police reports indicate that the suspects, who were allegedly hiding in Boni Forest ambushed the already injured GSU officers. In response, the KDF engaged resulting in the deaths of three KDF soldiers.
