A father recently requested his son to return a substantial sum of 10 million Kenyan shillings that the son had unexpectedly won from a sports betting venture. The son, a 19-year-old, had placed a modest 100 shillings bet, resulting in a significant windfall.

Despite the son’s stroke of luck, the father vehemently disapproved of sports betting and insisted that the winnings be promptly returned to the source. The details of this incident initially surfaced through an anonymous message on the messaging platform NGL and were later made public, with CorrectNG also sharing the information.

In the message, the son’s brother reached out to the public for advice on how to navigate the situation. He conveyed his distress over upcoming rent payments and the escalating tension between their father and his wife, arising from the rejection of the betting earnings.

Despite the unexpected financial boon, the father remained steadfast in his refusal to allow the money into their household, maintaining that it should be returned to the betting company.
