As highlighted by Citizen Television’s kitale based reporter, Collins Shitiabayi, 15 students of St. Monica’s Girls Kitale spent night in police cells in Kitale. According to a post published on his official Facebook page, he has indicated that the school management wanted the 15 girls to be taken to police cells on grounds that they incited the rest of students to strike.

On the other hand, the accused girls said they only screamed after a man entered their dormitory. Parents of the accused girls refused to agree with idea of the said school’s management of taking their daughters to police cells without carrying out proper investigations. The other day, the school was closed and Students were sent home when they were about to strike. In unison, they were captured saying they demand for removal of their current principal.

Shitiabayi captioned the said post saying, “15 girls from St. Monica Girls School in Kitale will spend the night at Kitale police station. The school management says they wanted to incite others to strike, while the girls say they were screaming after a man entered their dormitory. Parents say it is unfair for their daughters to spend time in a police cell without a thorough investigation, since the students had earlier been sent home for complaining about the poor state of the school.” He wrote.

Upon seeing this information, a parent in that school has commented saying her daughter is one of the 15 girls. She goes by the name Agneta Ngilu, she has commented saying,” I am a parent in that school. My child is among the girls being accused. Kindly dm me your number. I need to address this issue.” She wrote.
